Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs beef stew meat
  • 3 cups cubed potatoes
  • 3 celery ribs, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 3 large carrots, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 large onion, cut into 12 wedges
  • 1 cup peeled and cubed rutabaga
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) stewed tomatoes

Cooking Instructions

Preheat oven to 275. In a large resealable bag, combine the beef, vegetables, soup mix, and seasonings. Shake to coat evenly. Transfer to a dutch oven or large baking dish. Pour water over mixture. Bake, covered, for 3 to 4 hours or until beef is tender.
